Uses

The formic acid is used:

- as a preservative and antiseptic agent in the livestock feed industry because it prevents putrefaction and decomposition processes, therefore the storage period of hay and silage imbued with formic acid is longer,

- as a pickling agent for wool dyeing,

- for the bees parasites control ,

- as a solvent in some chemical reactions, as a bleaching agents for tanneries,

-in the laboratory carbon monoxide is obtained by decomposition of liquid formic acid, etc.
